In sports, ownership changes often signal a fresh start. But when Atlético Dallas announced its acquisition of Dallas Trinity FC, the goal wasn’t to start over. It was to build a partnership.
One that doesn’t begin by tearing something down, but by asking how far something that’s already proven successful can go.
Where Dallas Trinity FC Was
Dallas is a city that wins.
It doesn’t settle for mediocrity. Never has.
That mentality stretches beyond the people who live here, it spills onto the field, and it seeps into the teams they rally behind.
So when DTFC stepped into the newly formed Gainbridge Super League in 2024, the goal was never just to exist. It was to compete.
Ever heard that saying: make your first step your best step.
It wasn’t written on the crest, and you won’t find it in any club motto, but if you watched Dallas Trinity FC in that inaugural season, you could’ve sworn they lived by it.
Eleven wins. A playoff berth in both the club’s and the league’s very first season. The league’s first-ever Golden Boot winner. Four players named to the 2024/25 USL Super League All-League teams and a semifinals appearance.
Then came year two.
Another 11 wins. Another trip to the playoffs. In just their second season, Dallas Trinity FC became one of only two clubs in league history to qualify for the postseason in each of the league’s first two campaigns. Consistency is hard to create and harder to build on but DTFC made it look like part of the blueprint.
But it wasn’t just their on-field success that bloomed for Dallas Trinity FC during those two years. It was also their role in creating a women’s soccer culture in the one city that yearned for it more than any other. They became a club that teams like FC Barcelona, Club América, and the Houston Dash wanted to play against (and did). They created a culture where you’d see fans at a World Cup watch party sporting a Dallas Trinity FC jersey and know that it belonged there.
It’s women’s soccer in America that has thrived on the USWNT’s decorated success. Dallas Trinity FC amplified that and made it their own in North Texas.
And that’s where Dallas Trinity FC is: a powerhouse in the Gainbridge Super League, with strong but realistic title aspirations to look forward to.

Winning matches is what fans remember. Building a club that can keep winning for years is a different challenge altogether.
DTFC proved in its first two seasons that it could compete with anyone in the Gainbridge Super League. But professional sports ask clubs to succeed in more ways than one.
Every matchday, academy initiative, community event, and roster decision exists alongside the realities of operating a growing sports organization. That isn’t unique to Dallas. Across women’s soccer, clubs have shown that success on the field doesn’t always guarantee long-term stability off it.
The Neil family helped establish Dallas Trinity FC with exactly that ambition and what they brought to the club will live with the team throughout its existence. Those achievements created something worth investing in.
That’s where Atlético Dallas enters the story.
Following the Neil family’s sale of Dallas Trinity FC to the Gainbridge Super League, Atlético Dallas acquired the club from the league, providing the long-term support needed to build upon the competitive foundation already established.
It was an investment in momentum, not a reset.
Where Does the Atlético Dallas Partnership Hope to Take DTFC?
On June 30, Dallas Trinity FC closed the first chapter of its story and began writing the next.
The headline read, “Atlético Dallas Acquires Dallas Trinity FC.” But it was what followed that revealed the vision behind the announcement.
The release spoke about building upon the strong foundation the Neil family created while bringing both clubs under an umbrella that shares the same city, the same ambition, and the same commitment to growing the game of soccer in Dallas. It may have been written in corporate language, but the underlying message was simple: grow together.
Atlético Dallas isn’t looking to reinvent what DTFC has built. Instead, it is investing in that success, strengthening it from within, and giving the club access to the same resources, infrastructure, and long-term vision that Atlético Dallas is building for itself.
“We intend to strengthen the sport’s presence across the city of Dallas while expanding pathways for young athletes, both girls and boys, as they pursue opportunities in the game,” said Atlético Dallas Founder and Chairman Matt Valentine.
There’s confidence in that vision, but it’s measured. No one is pretending the journey will be without challenges, and Atlético Dallas hasn’t shied away from acknowledging that.
The goal, however, remains clear: build championship-winning clubs, create a culture where winning becomes the expectation, and make both Atlético Dallas and Dallas Trinity FC synonymous with the city’s passion for winning.
