Atlético Dallas is the newest expansion team of the United Soccer League (USL), which is the largest and fastest-growing professional soccer organization in North America and one of the most successful professional soccer leagues in the world.
Atlético Dallas is currently scheduled to premiere as part of the USL Championship, sanctioned as a Division II team by the U.S. Soccer Federation. Recently, USL announced its intention to create a Division I group. We will know more about this and which division we will compete in as we get closer to our start date.
The USL recently revealed plans to begin promotion and relegation, a historic first for American sports. It is unclear yet when that will begin, but we will share news as it develops.
Atlético Dallas will be headquartered in the Dallas area. The exact location has not yet been determined.. Stay tuned for more information as this develops.
Atlético Dallas will begin play in the USL Championship in early 2027.
USL Championship season runs from March through November each year.
The team was founded by lifelong friends and soccer enthusiasts Matt Valentine and Sam Morton, along with their close business partners and friends, Luther Ott and Don McAlone. Their goal is to cultivate a deep love of professional soccer within the community and make the game accessible to all fans and athletes at every age and skill level.
The best thing about professional soccer is the passion of the fans. While we don’t yet have an “official” supporter’s group, you can bet that our newest fans will be quick to start one and rally behind our club soon.
