“This role is about more than tactics or results – it’s about building something meaningful,” said Luccin. “Atlético Dallas represents a clear vision for what a modern club can be: competitive, connected to its community, and committed to developing players the right way. A former French international, Luccin enjoyed a decorated professional career at the highest level, spanning more than a decade in Europe and Major League Soccer. He was the youngest member of France’s squad at the 1997 FIFA World Youth Championship and went on to make nearly 500 professional appearances, at some of the world’s biggest clubs like Atlético Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Marseille.
After finishing his playing career in the MLS with FC Dallas, Luccin transitioned into coaching, serving on the club’s technical staff and later stepping in as interim head coach during the 2024 season. His experience in the U.S. domestic top flight combined with his European background gives him a unique perspective on developing players and building teams.
“Peter understands what it takes to develop players and teams at the highest levels,” said Brian Corcoran, Sporting Director of Atlético Dallas. “He’s coached professionals, he’s worked closely with young players, and he knows this talent-rich market. That combination of experience, leadership, personality and character made him the right choice to help establish our football identity. We believe Peter is the right leader as we position Atlético Dallas to be a desired destination for players that match our ambitions.”
Luccin’s commitment to player development is reflected in his past work with emerging talent, including mentoring numerous Academy players that have established themselves at both the professional and International level.
As Atlético Dallas continues to build a community-first club with strong local and regional roots, Luccin’s appointment signals a clear emphasis on leadership, development, and long-term vision.
“From the beginning, we’ve said this club would be built with purpose,” said Matt Valentine, Chairman and Co-Founder of Atlético Dallas. “Peter brings credibility, humility, and a deep understanding of the game. Just as importantly, he believes in building something that reflects the community it represents. He’s the right leader to help guide us into this next chapter.”
Luccin will begin working immediately with club leadership to help shape technical standards, development pathways, and the long-term competitive vision for Atlético Dallas as the organization continues preparations for its USL Championship launch.
The club will host a free public event on Thursday, Feb. 12 from 6-8 p.m. at Happiest Hour in Dallas. Club supporters are invited to celebrate and get to know Luccin during an open panel discussion moderated by Kyle Martino.

USL outlines three-division framework ahead of promotion and relegation
TAMPA, Fla. – The United Soccer League (USL) today announced USL Premier as the official name of its Division One men’s professional league and unveiled a new structure for its men’s pathway, establishing an interconnected three-tier framework designed to support long-term growth, competitive integrity, and the introduction of promotion and relegation.
USL Premier will serve as the top tier of a unified men’s professional pathway that also includes the USL Championship and USL League One. As part of this structure, the USL is aligning competition formats across divisions to support balanced schedules, credible movement, and future expansion.
Under the future league structure, the USL is establishing the following initial framework, which could evolve over time:
USL League One (Division Three) will continue to grow nationally while organizing competition regionally, allowing clubs to compete closer to home and build local rivalries.
USL Premier (Division One) will operate as a single national table, with a long-term target of 20 clubs, and is scheduled to launch in 2028.
USL Championship (Division Two) will also operate as a single national table, with 20 clubs, strengthening competitive consistency and national reach.
As this structure takes shape alongside the launch of USL Premier, the USL will introduce America’s first promotion and relegation system – creating a connected, merit-based professional pathway that rewards performance, raises the level of competition across all divisions, and delivers more matches of consequence for clubs, players, fans and partners.
“USL Premier is a defining piece of our long-term vision for the men’s game,” said Alec Papadakis, CEO of the United Soccer League. “We’ve built a multi-tier professional system that is both scalable and rooted in communities. By establishing a clear structure, we’re creating a strong foundation for clubs, players, and fans, and unlocking meaningful opportunities for stakeholders and investors as we continue to grow the game and prepare to introduce promotion and relegation.”
The USL is currently reviewing applications from clubs interested in competing in USL Premier and will announce the league’s inaugural members at a later date.
Soccer in the United States is entering a pivotal period, fueled by rising participation and the country’s role as host of major global sporting events, including the 2026 FIFA World Cup™ and the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. This national spotlight is expected to deepen fan engagement, introduce new audiences to the sport, and drive demand for professional soccer in communities across the country, an opportunity the USL is uniquely positioned to capture.
Building on this momentum, Tony Scholes, current Chief Football Officer of the English Premier League, will join USL Premier as President upon completing his responsibilities in England this summer.
About United Soccer League Founded in 1986, the United Soccer League (USL) is the largest and fastest-growing soccer organization in the United States, reaching more than 200 communities nationwide. It is the first and only soccer league to offer a complete youth-to-professional pathway for both men and women within a single, unified structure. On the men’s side, this includes four tiers: the newly announced USL Premier (Division I}, USL Championship (Division II}, USL League One (Division Ill}, and USL League Two (pre-professional). The women’s pathway features the Gainbridge Super League, a Division One professional league, and the USL W League, the country’s top preprofessional league. The USL also operates USL Academy, a progressive talent development system, and USL Youth, a premier national platform for younger players. With multi-year national and international media rights agreements across various platforms including CBS Sports, ESPN and Peacock, the USL is the most widely accessible soccer league in the country.
Veteran sponsorship executive and former Dallas Mavericks leader to oversee commercial strategy as the club builds toward its USL Championship launch
Atlético Dallas announced today that Ryan Mackey has joined the organization full time as Senior Vice President of Partnerships, strengthening the club’s executive leadership team as it prepares to bring USL Championship soccer to North Texas.
Mackey previously served Atlético Dallas as Head of Partnerships on a contract basis and now assumes responsibility for leading corporate partnerships, sponsorship strategy, and revenue development. The appointment comes as Atlético Dallas continues expanding its footprint near the Cotton Bowl. The team recently announced plans to relocate their headquarters to Expo Park across the street from a new street soccer court and supporters bar, creating additional year-round engagement and partnership opportunities in the surrounding district.
A veteran sports and entertainment executive with nearly 30 years of experience, Mackey has an extensive background in sponsorship sales across the NBA, NHL, collegiate athletics and live entertainment.
“Ryan understands this market and what it takes to build meaningful partnerships here,” said Sam Morton, Co-Founder and Chief Commercial Officer of Atlético Dallas. “His experience with world-class organizations and his ability to align brands with community-driven sports properties make him an ideal leader as we continue growing Atlético Dallas in North Texas.”
Before joining Atlético Dallas, Mackey spent 24 years with the Dallas Mavericks, where he advanced to Senior Vice President of Corporate Partnerships, overseeing sponsorship strategy and long-term corporate partnerships for one of Dallas’ most prominent professional sports franchises.
“I’ve spent my entire career in Dallas, and Atlético Dallas represents a unique opportunity to help build something new and lasting for this region,” Mackey said. “This club is creating a platform where local and national brands can connect authentically with the North Texas community, and I’m excited to be part of that growth.”
Mackey has also served as a consultant for the Portland Trail Blazers and as a Senior Consultant with Connect Partnership Group, driving revenue for sports and entertainment properties, including the Dallas Stars. In his new role, Mackey will focus on aligning corporate partners with the club’s business objectives, fan engagement strategy, and community initiatives as Atlético Dallas builds toward its 2027 kickoff.
The City of Dallas and Atlético Dallas announced an economic development incentive supporting Atlético Dallas’ relocation of its corporate headquarters to the city of Dallas.
The economic development incentive (in the form of a conditional grant) is designed to support Atlético Dallas’ relocation from Richardson to Dallas and the expansion of the club’s operations within Expo Park, an area that is poised for renewed investment, job creation, and year-round community engagement.

Atlético Dallas will lease approximately 12,000 square feet at 820 Exposition Avenue located near the gates of Fair Park and the DART Fair Park Station. The new headquarters will include 1,500 square feet of street-facing retail space, which will serve as the club’s official retail shop and a welcoming front door for fans and visitors.
Directly across the street at 827/829 Exposition Avenue, Atlético Dallas is planning a new supporters bar — tentatively named The Den at Expo Park — featuring a 6,000-square-foot bar and restaurant and a 10,000-square-foot patio and beer garden. The outdoor space will include the club’s first street soccer court, expanding public access to the game and activating the neighborhood in new ways.
The street soccer court is expected to open in time for the FIFA World Cup this June, with the supporters bar slated to open later this summer, anchored by a grand opening celebration.
“This move is about much more than an office,” said Matt Valentine, Founder and Chairman of Atlético Dallas. “Relocating our headquarters to Expo Park allows us to put down roots in a historic and culturally significant part of Dallas while creating a true hub for community, creativity, and connection. We’re building a place that welcomes fans year-round and reflects our commitment to growing the game and giving back to the city that’s embracing us.”
With the relocation to Dallas, Atlético will retain 12 existing jobs and create up to 85 new jobs over the next five years. The new jobs include front office, executive, professional, administrative, coaching, and player positions with a commitment to local hiring and workforce development.
“The City of Dallas is proud to welcome Atlético Dallas and its new corporate headquarters near the gates of Fair Park and DART’s Fair Park station—a vibrant and growing hub for business, culture, and community,” said Assistant Dallas City Manager Robin Bentley.
“This investment and corporate relocation will further strengthen our commitment and vision to create dynamic spaces to draw residents, sports fans and visitors to the Fair Park neighborhood in the heart of Dallas,” Bentley added.
The economic development incentive, offered through an administrative action authorized by the City Manager, supports tenant improvements and business expansion within a City-designated Economic Development Target Area. Atlético Dallas will also partner with Dallas College as part of a workforce development initiative designed to create career pathways and professional opportunities for local students.
The street soccer court represents the first phase of a broader collaboration with Kyle Martino and Street FC, supporting Atlético Dallas’ long-term vision to expand access to soccer and public play spaces across the city.
The new headquarters is located just steps from the historic Cotton Bowl, where Atlético Dallas is scheduled to make its USL Championship debut in 2027, further reinforcing the area’s role as a growing center for professional sports, culture, and community life.

DALLAS, Texas (December 12, 2025) — This weekend, global soccer legend Patrice Evra and American soccer icon Kyle Martino will join Atlético Dallas to unveil two major milestones for the club and the city: the official U.S. launch of the PLAYER app, and a new investment in Dallas soccer infrastructure that will bring a street court, supporters bar, and expanded street soccer opportunities to the heart of Expo Park.
The announcement will take place at the Atlético Dallas Fútbol Block Party at 831 Exposition Ave on Saturday, Dec. 13 from 4-10 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. There will be a media panel starting at 4 p.m. with interview opportunities available following a moderated Q&A session.
LINKEDIN FOR FOOTBALLERS
Described as “LinkedIn for footballers,” the PLAYER app is already widely used across the United Kingdom – from Premier League and EFL academies to lower-league clubs – connecting undiscovered players with professional and semi-professional opportunities. The U.S. launch expands of one of the world’s most promising talent discovery platforms into one of the fastest-growing soccer markets ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
“Launching PLAYER in the United States is a dream and part of our mission to shine a light on players everywhere. Dallas has an incredible soccer community, and I’m excited to give more young players the chance to be seen,” said Patrice Evra, Co-Founder, PLAYER. “With the World Cup coming, this is the perfect moment to open the door for a new generation.”

He also made two FIFA World Cup appearances and captained the France national team in 2010. Evra is known not just as one of the greatest left-backs in professional soccer, but also for his leadership, work ethic, and passionate advocacy for underserved youth.

PLAYER SHOWCASE MATCH — THIS SUNDAY
To mark the U.S. debut, PLAYER and Atlético Dallas will co-host an unsigned talent showcase match this Sunday, Dec. 14 at SMU’s Washburn Stadium at 11:00 a.m. The showcase will feature top unsigned players sourced through the PLAYER app, competing in front of scouts and evaluators from Atlético Dallas and other professional organizations. The Dallas showcase is the first step in PLAYER’s multi-city expansion strategy across the American soccer landscape.
MAKING SOCCER MORE ACCESSIBLE
While the PLAYER app expands digital access for talent discovery, Atlético Dallas and Street FC are also investing in the physical spaces where the game begins. The Expo Park development project demonstrates the shared vision between Atlético Dallas and Street FC to expand access to the game by building street courts across Dallas County – a vision that aligns perfectly with the goal of discovering new talent through the PLAYER app. The investment represents an opportunity to strengthen Dallas’ position as a global soccer destination. The project includes:
A new outdoor street court opening in Expo Park ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup
A new soccer supporters bar — tentatively named The Den — opening later in 2026
A long-term plan to build street soccer courts across Dallas County, increasing access to the game in urban communities
Renderings of the proposed street soccer court at 831 Exposition Ave set to open in early summer 2026 and the adjacent supporters bar set to open later in 2026. Images provided by Atlético Dallas.
“Street football is the heart of the sport. These new courts and community spaces will energize Dallas and create more places for people to play,” said Kyle Martino, Founder of Street FC and new Atlético Dallas partner. “Pairing that with PLAYER gives players real opportunities to climb the ladder, whether they come from structured systems or from the street. This launch is the start of something big.”
Kyle Martino, founder of Street FC
“I grew up playing in the streets, not an academy, and I understand how important access is,” Evra added. “This project with Atlético Dallas — from the street court to PLAYER — is about opening the game to everyone.”
“We want every neighborhood in Dallas to feel connected to this club, and that means investing in spaces where people already live, gather, and play,” said Matt Valentine, Co-Founder & Chairman, Atlético Dallas. “Expo Park is the first step in our long-term commitment to make soccer accessible across the entire county.”
“Our vision is a Dallas where anyone, at any level, can step onto a soccer court,” added Sam Morton, Co-Founder & Chief Commercial Officer, Atlético Dallas. “These investments represent how serious we are about fulfilling our promises to the community. DALLAS, TX / BERWYN, PA (November 10, 2025) – Atlético Dallas, North Texas’ newest professional soccer club, today announced a comprehensive partnership with Playfly Sports, the sports industry’s leading revenue maximization company. We’re excited to unveil our Fall Merchandise Collection, refreshed for the season and rooted in the identity of Atlético Dallas. Shot entirely on location at Fair Park, the campaign’s rugged, urban backdrop mirrors the collection’s balance of casual comfort and refined style. Every piece is built for the streets and shaped by the culture of our fans.
They say “the eyes of Texas are upon you,” but this season, it’s the eye of the wolf that commands attention. Our new Origin Tee debuts in a warm golden orange, a subtle homage to the wolf’s gaze in our crest. The sandstone colorway carries through in staples like the Classic CrewneckSweatshirt and Founder’s Tee, tying the collection together with understated confidence.
We’re proud of this collection and ready for the cooler temps ahead, perfect for layering up and repping Atlético Dallas all over the city that moves with us.
Glory from Dust. These words guide Atlético Dallas through both triumphs and setbacks.
For nearly two years, we worked with City of Garland leaders on a vision to bring a professional training facility, new community soccer fields, and surrounding development to Garland. Twice, the project earned City Council approval, and twice, we believed we were moving forward together.
It is disappointing to share that this project will not move ahead. Despite our efforts to adjust the scope and funding, including offers to increase private investment, the city has decided to terminate the project.
While our plan will not come to life as we envisioned, our commitment to building community remains unchanged. You, the families and businesses of Garland, have stood by us with overwhelming enthusiasm since our brand launch on May 2. We remain committed to standing with you by supporting Garland ISD soccer programming, partnering with local organizations, and remaining present in this community.
When Atlético Dallas takes the field at the Cotton Bowl in 2027, Garland will be part of that story, because Garland is and always will be part of Atlético Dallas. Thank you.
With gratitude and respect,
Matt Valentine & Sam Morton Co-Founders, Atlético Dallas
Gracias.
Con gratitud y respeto,
Matt Valentine y Sam Morton Cofundadores, Atlético Dallas
